Northern Quarter Street Signs by Tim Rushton and Liam Curtin
The Street signs appeared towards the end of the 1990’s when Liam was working as Lead Artist in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, he felt that bespoke street signs would help to give the area a sense of place.
He commissioned artist Tim Rushton to design a distinctive letter face for the tiles. Tim came up with a brilliant contemporary letter face which he called Cypher. Tim and Liam combined their skills to screen print the letters on to tiles where they were fired in a local studio
The signs are admired widely and help to give the area its own identity.
